Raised track cleaner
09-07-23

This is 5 or 3 1/2 inch dual track cleaner

This clever track cleaner that scrubs the top of the rail the two gauges of the raised track. Its done by pushing it around in (preferbally) a clockwise direction. It can be pulled or pushed by a loco but pushed by a human at walking pace is best.

Once the track cleaner has done a complete circuit of the raised track it is then picked up and turned 180 degree's and pushed around again. It has been set up in such a fashion that twice round the raised track will clean all three rail heads.

Originally designed with three wire wheels but It was settled upon two wire wheels to reduce the wear and tear on all the working parts.

The idea for the track cleaner came from one of our members who got fed up with getting dirt & muck from the rail head on the underside of his loco and fouling up the gears and bearings.
